  • BWCE OBJECTIVES

    Fellow Christians,

The rise of the cults in our generation is directly related to the church's failure to prioritize doctrine. In the last 30 years or more, over 3000 cults have been organized in America. The effects of this "new religious movement" have penetrated the media, the business world, our school systems, the family, and a sleeping church.

The next few years will be critical for Christian leaders to react. The church must have a strategy to counter this fast-growing movement or face the consequences of further loss of recognition and strength in our society. The vital task of BWCE must be seen as a united effort by the true church of Jesus Christ. The war against truth generated by the cults and those following them cannot be won by one-man ministries scattered across our land. Each church must take its place on the front lines and equip itself with readiness and the presence of God's power.

How is it possible to see the need in your church? You can begin by asking yourself this question: “In my personal evangelism, how many cult members have come to know the Lord as a result of my witnessing to them?” The response, in most cases, is none.

Brethren, that ought to tell us that something is wrong. Because of this, the cults are growing by leaps and bounds. Mormons claim to have a membership of more than 11 million followers, with some 55,000 or more active young people serving two years as missionaries. JWs have over 4,000,000 active members engaged in door-to-door recruiting. Brethren, it's time to wake up and face the facts that we are lagging and our home front is under attack. If the Lord is raising up ministries to reach these people, don't you want to become involved? If so, please pray and allow us the privilege of helping you reach souls for Christ through the ministry of BWCE.

The objectives of BWCE are basic and biblical. They consist of research, instruction, evangelism, and church planting. The Lord Himself taught the principles to reach the cult victims. They may be defined as the False Foundation Principle (Matt. 7:24-27) and The Restoration Principle (2 Tim. 2:24-26). These principles are expounded and applied in CHECKMATE for Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses, The Trinity Book: What does it mean for God to be triune?, and The Sunday School Book. These books are ready for you. Those of you who are interested in putting these Bible principles to work will not be disappointed. You will enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you have done something positive and powerful to reach people who have been unreached.

One of the reasons that so many Baptists are being proselyted by JWs and Mormons is that church members no longer have a working knowledge of what they believe. Instead, people in our churches only have general knowledge. They cannot articulate to a JW or a Mormon from Scripture the verses that would vindicate their belief in One God who is Triune or any of the other nine major doctrines (with five sub-points for each) taught in the Bible. Just ask anyone sitting in a church pew to name the 10 Commandments in order or the seven pieces of armor one must have

to stand, and how they are to be used, or ask someone in leadership to give the 16 qualifications of a bishop (ten musts and six must-nots) or list the six ways leaders are to be an example of the believer; ask someone to enumerate the 16 points of what charity does and the seven warnings if one fails to have charity; ask someone the seven things one should add to his faith that will enable him to never fall ask, and see what kind of answers you get. The church is drastically failing in discipleship, and because people only have a general knowledge of what they believe, they have become easy prey for the cults. We want to change our Sunday school classes from listening centers to learning centers. By God’s grace and with your help, we can do it. Let’s get started now!

How Can We Correct The Problem?

To create a learning center, one must understand that speaking is not teaching and listening is not learning. In every teaching and learning environment, at least three conditions must exist:

    •   1. Accountability= One must remember/retain the              information.

    •   2.  A sense of need= One must see the benefit that will result.

    •   3.  Application= One must use what they have learned, or it will be lost.

Part of the Great Commission is the church’s responsibility to equip the saved people to do the “work of the ministry.” One example of how this may be done is given in Eph 6:10-11:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

What the Church lacks the most are Sunday School graduates. The first piece of armor is that one’s loins must be girded with truth. How many people in the pews who have been in Sunday school for 20 years or more could write the ten basic doctrines of the Christian faith with five sub-points? One of the main words in the pastoral epistles is “doctrine.” Knowing sound biblical doctrine is a necessary part of what is required to enable a Christian to stand against the wiles of the devil. So why is it true that if one were to ask people sitting in the pews to write the doctrines with sub-points, they could not do it? The answer is that they have not been equipped to do the “work of the ministry.” Just think of how much more productive the Church could be if members were taught (If you know it, you can say it.) their “spiritual a-b-c’s” and knew how to form those spiritual letters into words and then use them in sentences. Isn’t teaching, and I mean teaching, that results in knowledge (in your permanent memory) a significant part of what is commanded in these verses we so often quote?

Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Note: What one has been taught (what he knows and can say) stays in the permanent memory as long as it is used frequently.

If you want to transform your Sunday school classrooms into learning centers, we can help you get started. You will find that people want to learn, and they will love you for teaching them how to articulate their beliefs. The sign on every teacher’s door should say: A learning center where believers will become disciples of Christ and then disciple others for the rest of their lives.

How will religious cult leaders appear?

(Matt. 24:24-25 KJV) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great sings and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before.

(Matt. 7:15 KJV) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

(II Cor. 11:13-14 KJV) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

They will appear as "anointed leader" who claims to be the new channel for God's revealed truth.

They will appear in an organization that holds enough control over its members to separate and destroy their families.

They will appear as an individual or organization whose authority they cannot challenge.

They will appear in an organization that does not show its financial statements to the general membership.

They will appear as an individual or organization that claims the Bible alone is not sufficient to reveal God's wisdom and truth, they must supplement and "correctly interpret" the Bible with the literature that organization or individual writes.

They will appear as an individual or organization that claims that doing the "good works" they emphasize is necessary to assure one of worthiness to enter the new kingdom and to keep God's favor.

They will appear as an individual or organization that uses "new light" to cover up their false prophecies and changing doctrines.
